Dear Friends,

Our family’s volunteer experience helping to rebuild New Orleans has been incredibly rewarding on so many levels – the work accomplished, the families helped, and the camaraderie of the group. Working side by side with our family and friends to rebuild another community has meant so much to us.

Sadly, the devastation left in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita is still evident four years later. There's a lot more rebuilding that needs to be done and volunteers are needed to make it happen.

Here are photos taken on our trip in 2009:

We are planning a return trip to New Orleans for February 17-21, 2010 and hope you can join us. Once again, we'll work with the St. Bernard Project, a terrific organization in New Orleans that provides volunteer opportunities in St. Bernard Parish, one of the hardest hit by the storm. The St. Bernard Project’s Rebuilding Program builds homes for senior citizens, people with disabilities and families with children who cannot afford to have their homes rebuilt by contractors. They provide an excellent orientation, tools, supplies and site supervision to make the volunteer experience safe, productive and meaningful. Absolutely no previous experience is necessary!

For more information about the St. Bernard Project, you can visit their web site at: http://www.stbernardproject.org/. See much more information in the attachments below and contact Rik Kaye by email, rikaye [at] aol [dot] com (subject: NOLA%20Trip) .
