Ira Nash began his term as Bet Am Shalom Synagogue on July 1, 2026. Email Ira at president@betamshalom.org
Ira and his wife Beth Nash joined BAS in 1996 following their move the prior year to Edgemont. They were drawn to BAS by its open, welcoming and relaxed (“hamish”) vibe. Their participation in the Rabbi’s “mitzvah class” was particularly influential in deepening their connection to both BAS and Judaism. Their two daughters became b’not mitzvah at Bet Am Shalom.
Ira has served on the Board, Executive Committee, Nominating Committee and Bylaws Revision Committee and became President in 2026.
Ira is a retired physician (cardiologist) and has served in a variety of physician executive roles in addition to his clinical practice. From 1995 to 2012 he worked at Mount Sinai in NY, rising to Chief Medical Officer. He then moved to Northwell Health where he was the Executive Director of Northwell Health Physician Partners and subsequently led Northwell’s programs for physician leadership development.
In addition to his other professional pursuits, Ira also served in the United States Navy Reserve Medical Corps, achieving the rank of Commander. He now enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, reading, exercising and working on model airplanes.
