Adult Ed Series: Hasidic Spirituality in a Contemporary Voice

Investigating Contemplative Prayer: We don't have to become Hasidim in order to use the spiritual insights of the great Hasidic teachers for our own inner growth and awareness.

We will engage in mindfulness meditation to ground awareness in the present moment, to find openings of compassion and generosity. We will then turn our attention to texts related to prayer in the Hasidic corpus, seeking to expand our own understandings of the possibility and meaning of prayer, and to deepen our capacity for personal prayer -- even in community.
No previous experience with meditation is necessary; all texts will be translated into English for our study.

With Rabbi Jonathan Slater.
