He holds a Ph.D from Brandeis University and has published extensively on the life and thought of Mordecai Kaplan. He has lectured widely in the United States and Israel. Professor Scult is a dedicated Kaplanian and a member of West End Synagogue Reconstructionist synagogue in Manhatten.  He lives in New York with his wife.
