Discussion of Isabel Wilkerson’s “Caste”

March 30, 2021 at 7:00 pm

As part of the Tikkun Olam/Social Action chevra’s ongoing racial justice education activities, join fellow BAS congregants for small group (Zoom) discussions about lessons from the interview and/or the book Caste. Members see Weekly Calendar, dedicated email or Members side of the website for ZOOM link.

In her new book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, Isabel Wilkerson explores an unspoken American caste system—a rigid hierarchy of human divisions—and its connections to caste systems in India and Nazi Germany, including how the Nazis studied American race laws as they planned the German Nuremberg Laws.

Prior to this event join The Museum of Jewish Heritage on March 23 as they present Wilkerson and Rabbi Angela Warnick Buchdahl, Senior Rabbi at New York’s Central Synagogue, for a conversation about Caste, the legacy of the Holocaust, and what lies under the surface of American life today.

In loving memory of our beloved BAS congregant Marcia Horowitz, this program is made possible by the Marcia Horowitz Education Fund for Cross-Cultural Awareness.

Register for the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s March 23 interview.
