Gardening Gabfest: Session 2

With the world swirling around us, it’s time to think garden and get grounded! The Green Chevra (Bet Am Shalom’s gardening group), in a reprise of our successful series four years ago, will host the next Gardening Gabfest presentation on Zoom, with lots of time for sharing and questions.

Experienced and new gardeners are welcome.

On Thursday, May 15, 7:30 – 8:30 PM, Bob DelTorto, master gardener and fearless leader of the Bronx River Parkway vine-cutting events, will talk about identifying and dealing with invasive plants.

Bet Am Shalom members have participated in Sunday afternoon vine-cutting events with him. We learned a lot about various invasives and helped save trees from strangling vines. We enjoyed the mission, and spending time with such a knowledgeable and kind person!

Bob will talk about various aggressive plants, including the Japanese Knotweed that has invaded Westchester. He has experience dealing with its robust stands, and will tell us how he manages them. I hope he has some insights on protecting our gardens from the Spotted Lantern Fly, too. Bring your questions.

Please sign up if you haven’t already signed up for the series. The zoom will start at 7:25 PM for introductions and presentation around 7:30. Bob is an excellent teacher, and will be happy to answer questions. We will keep it to one hour.

Let’s act together from the ground up!
