The Hebrew Reading Chug, focused on contemporary Israeli literature, mostly novels, was formed in the 1970s by a group of White Plains residents from local synagogues. Now we continue on Zoom, reading our prepared pages aloud. Our Hebrew backgrounds and skills differ, but all members share a love of the Hebrew language and have some experience reading modern Hebrew.
We discuss grammar, vocabulary and content questions that come up on each page. Our Hebrew improves every week. For those interested in conversational Hebrew, this is an excellent way to expand your vocabulary.
If you think you might like to join us, now is the perfect time to try it out. We are finishing the final pages of מפריח היונים (The Dove Flyer) by Eli Amir. We will start a mystery in early December: Batya Gur’s בבוקר רצח בשבת (The Saturday Morning Murder).
