Reckonings: The First Reparations

April 30, 2023 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Come together in recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day and watch the recently-produced documentary, Reckonings, which recounts the original negotiations with Germany in 1952 over reparations in the aftermath of the Holocaust.  The film was recently released in honor of the 70th anniversary of the agreements.

After the film, hear Jonny Segal speak about the film, what it means and the work of the Claims Conference. Also hear about Claudia Jaffe’s work involving restitution of artworks to heirs of persons who died in the Shoah.

Q&A will follow about their work, the history and ongoing work of the Claims Conference on behalf of survivors, and a discussion of what reparations means with an event like the Holocaust.
