Adult Ed Series: The Deep Roots of Jewish Environmentalism

Biblical Hebrew didn't have words for "nature" or "environment" because it didn't need them; the Israelites believed stewardship of the land to be a prerequisite for their relationship with God.

Today, many Jews are environmentalists and conservationists, but it's not always obvious to us that there's anything Jewish about our being so. The intent of this course is to help us to see a long but unbroken path between our present concerns and work and those of our spiritual forebears.

Presented by congregant Rabbi Michael Goldman.
