WHAT IS the Festschrift?
Turn It and Turn It: Essays, Poems, Music, and Art in Honor of Rabbi Lester Bronstein and Cantor Benjie Ellen Schiller is a collection of 70 works by rabbis, cantors, scholars, and artists with decades of professional and personal connections to Les and Benjie. The contributions honor the Torah of Les and Benjie but are not tributes to them. Rather, they are works of scholarship and art on torah portions, psalms, Judaism throughout history and modern times in Israel and throughout the world, including commentary and wisdom about community, relationships, peace, love and music.
Turn it and Turn it is a physical 300+ page book with a June 2025 publication date. The cover art is a painting by Rabbi Lawrence Kushner. Additional sheet music and recordings will be available to complement the book.
