Midnight Run

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Midnight Run brings clothing, food, and a little dignified companionship to homeless people living on the streets of Manhattan. Bet Am Shalom is one of many Westchester houses of worship and civic groups that sign up for routes and dates. We generally participate once every quarter, on a Saturday night. Preparations will start at 7:30 pm at BAS.Donations should be dropped off by 7:15 pmWE MUST KNOW IN ADVANCE who will be bringing what food and supplies for the run, who will be doing prep, and who will be driving/going on the Run.Contact Judy Zendell to find out what items and people below are still needed.Food & Supplies NeededSalami – 8 lbs slicedTurkey – 6 lbs slicedHard boiled eggs – 2 dozenWhite bread – 14 large loavesLettuce – 4 heads (with leaves good for sandwiches)Progresso Vegetable Soup – 16 cans (ONLY vegetable soup)Mini chocolate bars – 120Ripe bananas – 2 bunchesClementines – 30Apples – 25Mayo – 2 large (32 oz.) jarsMustard – one large jar12 oz. bottles of water – 3 casesCoffee – 1 canMilk – 1 quartSugar – 1 lb.Plastic sandwich bags – 250PEOPLE POWER- This is a great family activity for teens in 7th grade and above and their parentsSort clothes and make sandwiches On the night of the Run, come to BAS to help from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Go on the Run: We need two cars and drivers and nine more people to go down to the city and distribute food, clothing, and a little compassionate company. ​Kids must be 8th grade+ with an adult.Arrive at BAS at 8:30 PM; return about 2 AM.Clean up on Sunday, October 13 at noon. 2 people to help us store what’s left and clean up. CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDEDIf dropped off prior to the Run, please mark clothing for Midnight Run and leave them in the BAS lobby bin labeled Midnight Run.
