Annual Congregational Meeting, Tuesday June 20, 2023
Bet Am Shalom’s Annual Congregational Meeting began with our Cantor Benjie Ellen Schiller singing a Niggun. President Jon Gerstel welcomed everyone, and then led the meeting. Secretary Rosie Aronin asked for approval of the minutes from last year’s Congregational Meeting. Joy Brownstein then conducted the election of new Officers and Trustees. Jon then announced our new Marketing and Communications Chair, Laura Solomon, Program Chair, Felicia Lebewohl Rosen, School Board Chair, Orit Oppenheimer, and School Board members. Brian Peters had the honor of presenting the Financial Officer’s Report, which he did with good humor. Marisa Jackson and Ira Nash updated us on the Rabbinic Search. There were many questions. Laura Solomon talked about Programming for the past year, with the support of David Fine. Lisa Jacobs gave her report in her role as Director of Education and Family Engagement. Jon Gerstel gave his report as president, and offered todah rabah and gifts to departing officers. Our Rabbi Les Bronstein gave the farewell to our outgoing Board Chair, Harry Waizer, which was very moving. Our Rabbi and Cantor then offered a Mi Sheberach for the congregation, and a closing Niggun.
