Matisyahu: TOSA Concert

On Sunday evening, October 29th, the Tikkun Olam / Social Action Chevra held our annual concert to benefit Midnight Run and El Centro Hispano. What a rousing success the evening was! Our own Matisyahu, son of Rochelle Lieber-Miller and Bob Miller, who grew up at Bet Am, was the incredible draw who brought in over 420 enthusiastic fans! Generously donating his performance, he made it possible for us to generate amazing spirit at Bet Am Shalom and raise so much money for two very important non-profits. Ben Blumberg, who has participated in Midnight Run for more than 20 years, and now chairs the committee at Bet Am spoke about their work. Judith Aucar, who is now Executive Director of El Centro Hispano paid tribute to their late Director, Isabel Villar, and spoke of the endless critical work in which they are engaged. Bob Miller was Master of Ceremonies. Our Rabbi, Les Bronstein, gave a grounding introduction and shared a heartfelt hug with his former student, Matisyahu. Matisyahu was backed up by a keyboardist,Rob Marcher, amazing upright bassist, Jason Frateceli, and talented guitarist, Aaron Dugan. For one song he was joined by a new singer, Lily Banks, he had recently met. The crowd was excited, warm and buzzing from the moment they entered the building. CSS provided security along with paid security and the White Plains Police Force. And of course, the concert was followed by refreshments in the Simcha Room. In case you weren’t there, here are some highlights.
